Culture and Computing Conference 2011, Kyoto Japan

October 20-22, 2011

David Meurer will be attending and presenting a paper at the 2011 Second International Conference on Culture and Computing at Kyoto University, Japan, Oct. 20-22, 2011. The paper is entitled "Towards a Dialogic Archive: Canadian Copyright Law, Digital Archives, and Fair Dealing." He will be part of a session on Digital Archives chaired by Geoffrey Rockwell.

Artmob Beta Launch Event

Artmob introduced and demonstrated the current beta version of Artmob CMS software for members of the Osgoode Law School and York University Community on January 13th. The demonstration generated rich discussion that touched on interpretations of fair dealing, the implications of hosting and server infrastructure, and the possibilities for shaping cultural policy.

Convergences: Law, Language & Culture

Artmob principal investigator Rosemary J. Coombe and senior research assistant David Meurer attended Convergences: Law, Language & Culture the First International Osnabrück Summer School on the Cultural Study of the Law from August 2 to 16 2009. The summer school was sponsored by the University of Osnabrück, IFAA (Institute for English and American Studies) and DAAD (The German Academic Exchange Service).

Artmob and the 2009 York Graduate Conference in Education

David Meurer, senior research assistant, presented a paper on May 8 at the 8th Annual York Graduate Education Conference New Directions: People, Passion and Pedagogy as a participant in the session on "Arts Practice". The paper was titled "Theatre Archives Online: New Directions for Educational Digital Archives" and will be published in the conference proceedings.

Artmob at the ACA Conference

May 2009

Artmob project director Bill Kennedy and research associate David Meurer will be presenting Artmob's software at the Association of Canadian Archivists' Annual Conference in Calgary in May.
